CADIS 1898 on the way to ProWein accompanied by 10 Gold Medals

Six Golds at Mundus and four at Berliner provide a prestigious send-off to the trip to Germany. “Impressive results that strengthen our export position,” says GM Wolfgang Raifer

Cadis 1898 is celebrating resoundingly positive results for its wines from this spring’s main international wine competitions as it prepares to participate in the next fair, Prowein, which takes place 19-21 March in Düsseldorf.
The Berliner Wine Trophy and Mundus Spring 2023 wine competitions together bestowed a full ten Gold Medals on Cadis wines, four from Berliner and six from Mundus.

Berliner Wine Trophy
Since its debut in 2004, the Berliner Wine Trophy (Bwt), under the patronage of the OIV and the UIOE, has become the world’s largest wine competition and Germany’s premier wine tasting.  In this year’s event, four Cadis 1898 wines took home Gold Medals, one sparkler and three Valpolicella reds. Winning over the judges were:

  • 733 Charmat Lessini Durello DOC, from Cantina di Montecchia
  • “La Rotonda” Valpolicella Superiore DOC  2021, from Cantina d’Illasi
  • Valpolicella Ripasso Doc 2018, from Cantina d’Illasi
  • Valpolicella Ripasso Doc 2019, from Cantina d’Illasi

Mundus Spring 2023
Established in 2001 by the Mundus Vini Wine Academy, an offshoot of the publisher Meininger Verlag, the Grand International Wine Award has acquired increased prestige with every passing year, thanks to its strategic connection with the German-speaking wine market. Cadis 1898 was on the winner’s podium with a white wine and a full five reds:

  • “Castelcerino” Soave Classico DOC 2022, from Rocca Sveva
  • “Nottefonda” IGT Rosso Veronese 2019, from Rocca Sveva
  • Valpolicella Ripasso DOC 2018, from Rocca Alata
  • Valpolicella Ripasso DOC 2019, from Rocca Alata
  • “Val d’Illasi” Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore DOC 2019, from Cantina d’Illasi
(Named as well Best Wine in the Ripasso Superiore category)
  • Valpolicella Ripasso DOC 2018, from Cantina d’Illasi

These competition results are a felicitous prelude to Prowein 2023, where Cadis 1898 will present four of its wines:  Cantina di Soave, Cantina d’Illasi, Cantina di Montecchia, and Terre Al Lago. “The positive results we have obtained thus far,” commented Cadis 1898 GM Wolfgang Raifer, “make us quite hopeful for our performance in the German-speaking market, a key target for our export programme and where we hope to develop new partners that will give us even stronger growth for our overall strategic expansion.”
